My Son phoned me last night with the very sad news of the passing of Simon Emmerson, my thoughts are with his family, friends, fellow musicians and fans. I played with Simon in Strawberry Switchblade in the 1980s. Below (or click here) is a short clip called Deep Water, with pictures by Halvdan Wettre, from our Janice Long Session, recorded 11th Feb 1984. In November last year I posted a blog about these musical days, here is a an extract:

"Cool photo of Simon Emmerson below. Simon co-formed two brilliant bands who I have seen live: Working Week and later Afro Celt Sound System. He once gave my mate Tom Langton-Lockton and I money to come to his Working Week gig in Camden because we were broke. Simon also loaned us his recording equipment ... a good lad. Simon was also good fun, at the drop of a hat he would let anyone in ear shot know all about dialectical materialism! He lived on that interesting modernist estate in Camden Town called the Alexandra and Ainsworth Estate".
