Picture above and some below from 20 May 2020 (mobile phone) and first 6 pictures below are from this trip on 21st August 2022 (camera).
Sharpness is an English port in Gloucestershire, one of the most inland in Britain, and one which is on the beautiful Severn Estuary 20 minutes drive from where I live. The size of the Old Dock (opened in 1827) became a drawback for increasingly large ships and so in 1874 a floating New Dock was opened to the South. From 1908 the old entrance was abandoned and the Old Dock became used for ship repair, much of it falling into disrepair. (Wikipedia). On this trip (21/08/22) I captured pictures of what looked like ships being broken up. I intend to return to see how the pink ship is getting on!
I had my tripod set up and was taking photos at of the old wooden quay. Tim came up and asked me what I was photoing. Anyway, as our chat went on I mentioned I was a Gamekeeper's son. Tim was a Gamekeeper for over 40 years, see Tim's Story.
