Cornwall, 1970

We were living Swillington, West Yorkshire in 1968 and went on holiday to Hale, Cornwall. On the road down the A30 we would stop for the night. We boys would sleep in a tent next to the car. We even got locked out once and Dad flagged down a similar Ford car to ours and hey presto, we got back into the car. Wouldn't work these days. Don't remember the name of the extra boy in the featured photo above. But Dad had a friend who was a security guard at a facility down in Cornwall and we used to stop off and see them. This boy and family clearly came to see us in our static in Hale. You know, we all look happy and Dad used to play with us! According to Mum that yellow dinghy was quite expensive at the time but we loved it. I remember taking it to Bolton Abbey. Ian and I both got into canoeing in later life. Ian even made one at School in Wyke.

Trip planned. Watch this space. Not sure ... My Skegness post previously said what I wanted to say. I am now ready to start Part 2: London in the ’80s. Life on the edge of society, coming Friday 7th October 2022.
