Cromer 1959, I would visit again (15th & 16th September)

I lived in ten different places up to the age of fourteen. When I was nine months old Dad got a job as a farm labourer and moved us from Leeds in West Yorkshire to Newmarket in Suffolk. Here he eventually became a Game Keeper. The new home was an eight-sided house with a chemical toilet outside and no running water at first, we used a pump. Dad got the job via 'Uncle Sam' at Kennet Hall, near Chippenham, which had connections with the Roosevelts. When the owner died the US family asked Mrs Wells to look after it until it was sold. It was at this time that Dad got the job. Whilst living here we made a two hour trip to Cromer, and the above featured photo shows Dad and a 1 year old me on the beach. That is mum resting in the deck-chair on the right and it looks like Mum's Cousin Sandra on the left.

Following my visits to Happisburgh then Mundesley, I arrived in Cromer in the afternoon and took some shots shown below. I had booked into a relatively good value hotel; the Cliftonville Hotel turned out to be great. I was on the 3rd floor with a sea view. It was a windy night with some rain. I was up early the next day to catch the sunrise. I came here once with friends, and must dig out photos, if there are any. This is a lovely place and I would visit again, particularly as Happisburgh and Mundesley are also great.
