Bridlington, A working harbour (July 21st, 2022)

Then I drive on for breakfast with a view in Bridlington, a working harbour. Three weeks after my visit to Brid I remembered that in the mid 80s I took a road trip with some mates to Yorkshire (photo above). We stopped off for some fish n chips in Bridlington (it may have been Scarborough!). Stella was always very stylish, but it looks to me like Halvdan and I were paying too much heed of Wham! There are stories there to return to of road trips to Cornwall.

Comment via email July 2022 on a first draft of this diary/blog/newsletter:

When you have finished Yorkshire...keep going up the east coast! ... Honestly, you really have to get your camera up there! Ignore all the hype about the NC500 - it isn't too hard to get away from the tickbox people to just relish being in the countryside and the views. I know we are blessed with sun (a guy I got talking with in the harbour at J O G (John O'Groats) while I was looking across in amazement to the Orkneys said he'd come exactly a year before and couldn't see a thing! He had been ever hopeful and brought his camera for the second time and was making the most of it).

Your photos of the working harbour are really fresh and timeless - reminiscent of the village where we spent the longest part of my childhood.....I got some great sunset shots of that harbour which I will show you some time (assuming I can find them in the Cloud!) I love the photo of the lobster pots with the groynes and distant wind farm (Spurn) ....and appreciate that you give the background to the great photo of Michael (Withernsea). It's a good story as just a photo but comes more alive with you adding those details - as I suppose they all do, which is the point of the newsletter of course! ... I've seen your photos on Instagram but the newsletter is definitely welcome. So when are you next heading up there?

- Frances (Scottish roots)

Thanks Frances. Very tongue-in-cheek about Scottish weather 🙂 I will definitely head up North and do NC500, or some of it. Thanks for your kind words about the draft, Paul's and your own feedback encouraged me to make more trips and develop the results into this photo stories blog.
